UPHOLD – proven standards for healthy marriages, families & relationships

1)       Conduct a “Celebration of Marriage ceremony honoring couples who are married

2)       Form and sign a Marriage & Family Agreement

3)        Create a community vision for healthy marriages, relationships and families

 

INFORM – public on community standards and societal benefits of marriage, family, relationships

1)       Educate people on the value of marriage through media campaign, forums, media pieces

2)       Create written materials on importance of pre-marriage education and healthy pre-marital relationships

3)       Develop “keep at it” media messages targeting married couples

INDIVIDUAL IMPACT: Foster Healthy Relationships

 

INVEST – in the future generation of marriage, parenting and relationships

1)       Educate youth on relationship issues through classes and group settings

2)       Teach parents to teach their kids about healthy relationships

3)       Sponsor a youth rally on relationship issues

4)       Reach out to children of divorce and single parents with support and recovery resources

 

PREPARE – engaged and seriously dating couples for a healthy, lifelong marriage

1)       Develop a pre-marital program for civil marries (that judges would be comfortable with)

2)       Provide mentors for engaged couples with similar issues (remarriage, pregnant, etc)

3)       Host a multi-church sponsored seminar for engaged couples

 

EMPOWER – married couples, parents and families in healthy relationships

1)       Establish a mentor program for all seasons of marriage, family life for healthy relationships

2)       Supply newly married couples with packet of resources and information to help relationships

3)       Develop second-half of marriage outreach for prospective and current empty nesters

 

RECONSTRUCT – hurting marriages, fragile families, and broken lives into healthy relationships

1)       Create mentor programs exclusively for troubled marriages and families

2)       Set up support groups on a variety of topics to help people cope with and overcome issues

3)       Develop services for single parents

EQUIP – pastors, couples and parents to reinvest into others to ensure healthy relationships

1)       Conduct regular mentor trainings (for couples, parents, families, youth)

2)       Develop a centralized resource guide of local services

3)       Train people in churches to become lay counselors

 

NETWORK – with other organizations to provide resources for diverse relational needs

1)       Develop a 24/7 prayer effort for families

2)       Develop a web site to act as community clearinghouse of resources

3)       Encourage public, private and home schools to offer healthy relationship/marriage curriculum

4)       Conduct venues for pastors to share resources, best practices, tough issues with other pastors

5     Youth pastors and leaders needed in the discussion

 

PROMOTE – activities and efforts to help people achieve health and success in relationships

1)       Develop web site that acts as a centralized resource guide and promotes activities

2)       Mail list of marriage education opportunities to newly married couples

3)       Provide promotional materials on pre-marriage services at bridal fairs, wedding establishments

4)       Create a community calendar of relationship-enhancing activities, events and services
